A SMALL POST FOR A SMALL SECTION OF OKLAHOMA. What a shock to go from New Mexico to Oklahoma! A drastic change to pass from a state that touches Arizona to a state that touches Arkansas. And a big change from the mountains that we have been climbing since California to the flat and relatively more humid plains of the great midwest.
We only spent one night in Oklahoma in a small town called Boise City. Here, amid dark rain clouds and empty shops on main street we treated ourselves to a night in the Longhorn Motel, since we both hadn’t showered in a week! It was a welcome change to the tick and snake ridden underpasses we had been sleeping in.
Inside, we watched TV, browsed the internet, washed our clothes and ate spagetti and ice cream!
This area of the country has its own beauty in the constantly changing colors of the fields and the many small towns, which are all different and the same simultaneously. In the morning we awoke and cycled towards Kansas, crossing the border that evening.
